Imran Tahir 7-45, career best figures and Hashim Amla 23rd ODI ton lead South Africa to a huge victory of 139 runs against West Indies in the 6th match of Tri Series 2016.
First 300 plus score of tri-nation series, was lead on the base set by Hashim Amla and Quinton DeKock when they put up 182 runs partnership for first wicket. Amla was the first to reach 50, 100 and then get out on 110 in an attempt to send a slower ball by Kieron Pollard out of the ground.
DeKock hit his 6th ODI fifty and went out for 71 runs off 123 balls. With down order showing tremendous hitting at the later stage of the innings, the South African team managed to read 343 in 50 for 4 wickets. DuPlessis scored 73 runs of 50 balls while Chris Morris and AB De Villiers put up 40 and 27 runs respectively.
Imran Tahir’s heroic performance of 7 for 45 managed South Africa to have a huge margin of 139 runs victory. This is the best ever bowling figure by a South Africa and he also managed to secure fastest 100 wickets for South Africa.
West Indies have never been able to successfully chase over 3oo runs in ODIs. Despite getting good start from Johnson Charles and Fletcher, the West Indies middle order could not take the steak forward.
Imran Tahir was a great hurdle in their power hitting as he managed to take all important wickets. Tahir bowled only 9 overs and took 7 wickets out of them. He conceded only 45 runs witch 31 dot balls out of 63 balls. He received 3 fours and 2 sixes as well.
Due to consecutive defeats, Hashim Amla, the right handed opener stressed that his top order need to take responsibility. This game shows his words worked well. All 6 top order batsmen scored pretty well and it seemed as if they were on a mission to go to a high total.
